Zabuton
The zabuton is the everyday cushion found in homes and used for eating, meditating, reading and other daily activities. Like Kimono and obi the artistry often found were created by the skills of individual artisans who hand wove, hand dyed and painted, or hand embroidered each piece reflecting meticulous, time consuming, artistic detail.
Textiles are considered the greatest treasure in Japan’s remarkable century old tradition of handicrafts. The japanese have developed it to a level rarely seen elsewhere. There unmatched skills and refined aesthetic have combined to produce some of Japan’s finest treasures.
